Walking football's coming home! - By local resident and Grow Batheaston Trustee Richard Turner

Football`s coming home - well back to Batheaston football pitch as of next Wednesday 20th April - 5.30pm - 6.30pm. We started last year and as it was so much fun we have managed to sort out a whole Spring / Summer / Autumn weekly meet ups under the tutelage of our very own Bath City F.C.`s Geoff Stevens - fully trained up F.A. Coach, who supplies all the equipment we need ( i.e. goals, cones, bibs etc ) Geoff will be in charge of the sessions - getting us warmed up ready for the kick off.

Walking football really is suited for men and women whether or not they have ever played previously - because we don`t run at all everyone is involved in the game. Anyone over the age of 50 is welcome and encouraged to come along - old motto of mine has always been - you don`t know until you have tried.

The benefits of walking football are almost too many to list, low impact cardiovascular workout added to which definite mental health improvements - personally the biggest plus for me was to be able to be outside with other people having quite a lot of laughter kicking a football around.

So, I hope we see you on any Wednesday at 5.30pm - 6.30pm - we have make a small charge of £ 3.00. There is parking in the village and for those who don`t know where to go the nearest location with a Satnav post code is Rhymes Pavilion BA1 7NW.
