Forest Garden

A forest garden imitates deciduous woodland - trees and shrubs growing above small bushes, perennials and ground cover. The plants are selected to create a low maintenance, self-sustaining mixture that includes edibles, herbs, nature-friendly and practical varieties.

The Forest Garden is part of the Secret Garden next to the River Avon and public car park in Batheaston. It is always open, and available for everyone to visit.

We began the transformation of a corner of the Secret Garden in March 2022 when the Parish Council leased the land to us, and Bath and West Community Energy (BWCE) gave us a grant. As well as a lot of new plants, it now has places to sit and relax, a mud kitchen for young cooks and a network of paths.

Our Forest Garden group is managed via WhatsApp, where we share news, ideas and plans. We meet regularly in the Garden to do some planting, tidying and maintenance and enjoy its special atmosphere.

If you’d like to come along to one of our meetups, the dates and times are in the Diary. If you join the WhatsApp group you will also hear about extra adhoc sessions.

Please send us a contact form if you want to join the group.
